Quotes:

Loyd DeMause:
"The source of most human violence and suffering has been a hidden children's holocoust through history, whereby billions of innoncent  human beings have been routinely mudered, bound starved, raped, mulitaled battered and totured by their parents and other caregivers,so that they grow up as emotionally, crippled adults and become vengeful time bombs who periodically restage their early traumas in sacrificial rites called wars."

Khalil Gibran:
"The things which the child loves remain in the domain of the heart until old age. The most beautiful thing in life is that our souls remaining over the places where we once enjoyed ourselves."

Holistic In A Child

When looking at a child from holistic point of view you must take several things into account.  This approach by definition means” all or total” that includes income, family, parental education, social interaction, housing, and several other things.
When viewing a child holistically I take somewhat the same approach.  I have a 9 year old nephew that had a slight speech problem.  He has been receiving speech therapy since he was 3 years old.  Early on he was tested for autism as well dyslexia.  He is a very intelligent young man he simply has a learning disability.  Early on my family and his teachers had to learn a new approach as to evaluating him.  That is when I learned of a holistic approach.
My nephew is the most wholesome child in the world and he sees everything in a child-like state.  He sees the good and is still at the developmental pace of a child. We teach him on the level as other children his age and he is not behind.  It does take him longer to grasp the concept of some things more than others.  We do have to learn new approaches and sometimes do what we call “old school learning”.  This is the way we were taught and some of those methods still hold true.
When the school evaluates him they evaluate his demeanor, attitude to learning.  They also evaluate and acknowledge the fact that he has very hands on family who are involved in his education.  If not, they would be able to see a decline in his learning growth.
I didnot research other countries or regions but I work with a Radiologist that is Korean  and I asked him about holistic with his three boys, He said he donot believe in holistically in a child and not just him he said that's the way korea peoples think in general. Their main concern with theier childrens are they getting the grades and doing what is expected of them in school. No matter a child has a disability or is labeled with some sort of disable, they do not treat them any different than normal kids. The Radiologist name is Dr. Michael Ko,D.O.

Just the past weekend my daughter experienced racism. She was invited to birthday party of a friend that is a different race from hers.I always tell my children treat everyone the same no matter what race they are.My daughter had been excited about the party from the day she recieved the invitation.
She went to the party but she was the only young lady there of here race which that didnot matter to my daughter because she went because there and the party girl was friend. While she was sitting alone waitng to see the young lady that was having the party to young ladies passed the table where she was sitting and as they passed she said one of them made a racist remark about her.My daughter got very upset because she was shocked to see racism still exist.
                                    Racism in Brazil
To be brazilian has always been believed to mean more than mere nationality.Breazilians like to define themselves as a real race.Brazilian is a mixture of the races such as african, indian, and white. The most completed scientific journalistics study about racism in brazil was conducted last year.89% of  brazilians said they believe there is racismin their society and 10% they were prejudiced.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH

I chose Mental Health of mothers, fathers, and families in general. The topic is meaningful to me because wanting to be a professional you never know what type of issues that a child and his or her family maybe dealing with. It is very important to me that Iam made aware of changes and issues that occur in children life.I want to be able to know the different behavior in a child and their family so I can help them. I know someone close to me that was diagnosed with depression at the age of fifteen and it was very hard for the family.
I found information at http://www.menshealthaustrialia.net/. A study was conducted in Britian found that 21% of fathers and 39%  of mothers expereinced a period of depression by the time their child was twelve years old. Depression is most common among parents of babies, their is 13% in mothers and 3% of fathers becoming depressed by the time their child reached its first birthday.Divorced men are three times likely to committ suicide than any others. Suicide rates follows high for ages 30-34 and then ages 40-49. Married have the lowest sucide rate.
I have learned that is is very important to be aware of the signs of depression and or suicide, It is very important to communicate with parents and caregivers, It would be helpful for parents with teenagers to have resources available, just in case you know a teenager in trouble or your own teenager.
